Dr. Mona Spiegel is a Psychologist with a Ph.D. from Columbia University who is licensed to practice in New York and New Jersey. Before moving to Lakewood, NJ, she provided psychological services to the Monsey, NY community for over 30 years.  She specializes in psychological assessment and treatment of children, therapy for adolescent and adult women, and life coaching. 

 

Dr. Spiegel is renowned as a child psychologist with expertise in the evaluation of learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, behavior problems and social skills deficits of preschool and school-age children through adolescence. She collaborates successfully with parents, teachers and principals to facilitate improvement in children’s mental health.  This synergetic approach enhances the effectiveness of her diagnosis and treatment.

 

Dr. Spiegel is passionate about educating the public to minimize and/or prevent mental illness.  She conducts in-person and teleconference workshops on a variety of topics relevant to parents and educators.  National media – including ABC, FOX TV News, and USA Today - have interviewed Dr. Spiegel on issues pertaining to child development, parenting, and families. 

 

Prior to establishing her private practice in Monsey, Dr. Spiegel worked as a certified School Psychologist in public and private schools in Montgomery County, MD and Rockland County, NY.  This background, together with subsequent training in the Nurtured Heart Approach (NHA), has resulted in Dr. Spiegel mentoring teachers.  She helps them map out the most powerful strategies for working not only with particular children but with the class as a whole.

 

Dr. Spiegel also completed a rigorous program at MentorCoach, a coach training institute for mental health professionals. She opened her coaching practice in 2004 to address the concerns of the majority of women who seek help but do not necessarily need therapy.  Her coaching clients achieve their goals in parenting, interpersonal relationships, wellness, and life transitions.
